Alta Mae Debnam Sandling, 91, passed away on June 06, 2024, at her home in Youngsville, NC.
Alta was born on July 06, 1932, to the late Charles Nathaniel and Bertha Watson Debnam. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sandling was predeceased by her husband, J.A. Sandling.
Alta is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Al and Becky Sandling of Franklinton, Nat and Debra "Peanut" Sandling of Youngsville; her grandchildren, Hillary Dean Sandling and her daughter, Willow Grace; Davis Nathaniel Sandling (Chelsea) and their daughter, Elsie Ann; Mallary Renn (John), and their son Liston; Will Scott Sandling(Allie) and their children, Crawford, Josie, and Leddie; Jamie Leigh Davis (Scott) and their children, Nataleigh Mae and Felton Cash; and Jessica Ball ; her sister, Ann Douglas; and a special family member, Maggie Perry
Alta and J.A. owned and operated Sandling Funeral Home in Franklinton for 40 plus years. She was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church where Alta was still the president of her Sunday School Class. Alta was the matriarch of her family and loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sandling will lie in state at her home, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Woodland Baptist Church, 190 Woodland Church Road, Wake Forest, NC, with Rev. Benjamin Fuller officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton, NC.
