Barry Lynn Gibson

Barry Lynn Gibson, 64, of Holden Beach NC, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at his residence.

  Barry was born November 8, 1958 in Gaffney SC and was the son of the late Billy and Peggy White Gibson. He was retired from AT&T, was a retired veteran of the SC National Guard with 20 plus years of service, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blacksburg and received his MBA from Limestone College in Gaffney. He retired to the Holden Beach area to the home his parents bought in 1976. Barry absolutely loved living at the beach where he made a lot of friends who he loved fishing with, he was a faithful volunteer with the Holden Beach Turtle Patrol.

  He is survived by a son, Justin Gibson of Gaffney; three brothers, Dennis Gibson and Scott Gibson, both of Blacksburg and Danny Gibson of Rock Hill; two sisters, Robin Gibson and Rhonda Wright, both of Blacksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barry also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, which he adored, from his second marriage.

  The family will receive friends from 4:00PM until 6:00PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Blakely Funeral Home.  A service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Revered Rick Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg.
