Betty Ann Abernathy Bare

Ms. Betty Ann Abernathy Bare, 84, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at Lenoir Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bruce Graham will officiate.

Ms. Bare was born August 28, 1941, in. She was a daughter of the late Grier S. "Sump" Abernathy and Margie L. Cauble Abernathy. She was a 1959 Graduate of Granite Quarry High School, then attended RCCC and Kings Business College. She was a homemaker and a bank teller at the former Wachovia Bank. Mrs. Bare was a former member of First Methodist Church of China Grove, Coburn Methodist Church, and a Sunday School Teacher for 11th and 12th grades. She also was a pianist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, G.S. Abernathy, Jr. and Eugene "Gene" Abernathy; and stepmother, Bernita Kluttz Abernathy.

Ms. Bare is survived by two sons, Doug Bare and wife Julie of Rockwell and Chad A. Bare of Salisbury; grandchildren, Joshua "Josh" Douglas Bare and wife Atalie and Paul Nicholas "Nick" Bare and wife Kelsey; three great grandchildren, Grayden Bare, Axl Bare, and Casen Bare; sister-in-law, Camille Abernathy of Granite Quarry; two stepbrothers, Roy Sifford and wife Renee, and Dennis Sifford, both of Salisbury.
