Hilda Johnson

Mrs. Hilda Alford Johnson, age 99 formerly of Biscoe Road, Troy died Wednesday, July 15 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living in Candor.

Mrs. Johnson was the widow of funeral director William H (Bill) Johnson of Troy and she had worked as a hostess at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18 at Southside Cemetery in Troy with Rev. Bobby Tyson and Dr.. Paul Chandley officiating.

Mrs. Johnson’s body will like in state from 9:00 until 10:30 AM Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Smithfield, NC on February 14, 1921 to Walton J. Alford and Alice Lassiter Alford.  She moved to Troy NC with her husband  in January of 1968 when he came to work there as a Funeral Director. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the ladies Bible Class where she served as treasurer, and Circle # 2.  She was a member of the XYZ Club; a member of the VFW auxiliary and the DAV auxiliary.  She was also involved with the Troy, Montgomery Senior Center.  She had served as a hostess at Briggs Funeral Home in Troy. She was preceded in death by her husband William H (Bill) Johnson, by a sister Edna Wilder and by brothers Carlton Alford, Jay Alford, Rupert Alford and by her son-in-law Dr. Edward V. Wilkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Judy) Wilkins of Reidsville; sons, William T (Tommy) Johnson and wife Gail and John H Johnson and wife Vonda all of Troy. Grandchildren, Siri Johnson and husband Jim of Mobile, Ala, Kirsten Wheeler and husband Bryan of Raleigh, Julie Clark and husband Michael of Troy, Scott Johnson and wife Amy of Vass; great grandchildren, Sarah Catherine Wheeler, Anna Wheeler, Camille Johnson, James Johnson, Blayne Clark, Alexander Clark,
Calvin Wheeler and Makayla Johnson.
