It was not uncommon for the phone to ring at each house sometime during the day and "father" would simply want to inquire how "His people were". Family was center piece for John Hardy Sr. He graduated from Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, NC. where he received both his undergraduate and law degrees. Upon his graduation, he started his law career in Yanceyville NC as their Assistant District Attorney. From there, he and Ann Hardy moved to Greensboro NC to continue his career and raise their family. He served as Assistant County Attorney then became County Attorney and in 1960 joined the Greensboro law firm of Douglas Ravenel and Josey. The firm ultimately became Douglas, Ravenel, Hardy and Crihfield. He's areas of expertise was educational law and held roles of Guilford County School and Guilford College head legal counsel. He was active in his local bar association serving as President for a term. He finished his 45 plus years in the practice of law as a mediator. He was a 50-year member at his church First Baptist Church of Greensboro. He held several key leadership roles and taught the "Kings Men Class "for many years. Additionally, two other activities shaped his interest and involve in the community. They were the Greensboro's Boy Scouts and Triad Youth Lacrosse, TYLA. He was both a scouter involving himself with active scout projects, camps and outings as well as participating in administrative leadership roles. Because of his dedication and love of scouts he was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. His love of lacrosse, a game he played and excelled in as a youth in Baltimore, drove his desire to bring lacrosse to Greensboro. He orchestrated a division one lacrosse game between Hobart and Duke to show case lacrosse to Greensboro in the developing years. He was one of the original founding members of Triad Youth Lacrosse, and while helping directing the birth of TVLA, he was the first men Lacrosse Coach at Guilford College. He saw all three sons involved in the development of the sport, 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter play both TYLA lacrosse and high school lacrosse at the varsity level and currently his grandson Adam Hardy is the head JV coach of Tampa University Men Lacrosse Team. Father loved the game of lacrosse and was so proud of the success it enjoys now in Greensboro and the Triad. John Warren Hardy, Sr. "father" will be missed by family and friends, but his life's lessons, his love of the outdoors, sailing, stimulating conversation and family will live on in his "people' and friends His journey was a good one and his focus on his solid belief in Christ assures us all that he is ok.
