Linda Aitken Cooper 77 of Hickory died Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born June 3rd, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Harry Judson Aitken, Jr. and Mary Maxine Halstead Aitken. She was born and raised in Massachusetts and lived in many places but North Carolina was her home. After raising her three girls, she fulfilled her love for Arabian horses and endurance races all over the southeast. Linda is the former owner and operator of Dad's Place Restaurant in Hickory, famous for her chicken salad. In her retirement years she cared for the elderly at Pinecrest Retirement Community. She worked until her death at her family's funeral homes, Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton and Caring Cremations in Hickory.

Three daughters, Lori Cooper Jenkins and husband Carl of Hickory, Melissa Cooper Lowman and husband Rick of Hickory and Kerri Cooper Nash and husband Kelly of Catawba; and the girl's father, Howard Cooper of Newton; seven grandchildren, Bryan Sigmon of Hickory, Aron Sigmon and wife Jessica of Hickory, and their father and always son-in-law, Wayne Sigmon, Jr., Kody Nash of Newton, Korbin Nash of Ft. Bragg, Laurel Jenkins of Hickory, LeAnne Jenkins and Travis Holdren of Greensboro and Benjamin Jenkins and wife Meghan of Hickory; six great grandchildren, Carter Sigmon of Hickory, Tucker Jenkins and Andersen Jenkins of Hickory, Sawyer Holdren, Tatum Holdren and Wells Holdren of Greensboro survive her.

A Gathering of family and friends will be 2-3:30 pm Sunday January 21, 2023 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.The family will have a private viewing.
