Martha A. Wilder

Martha Ann Stewart Wilder, 79, of Oxford Rd., Henderson, died peacefully at Duke Regional Medical Center in Durham. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

 

Mrs. Wilder was the mother-in law of Bobby McIntyre, funeral director with Briggs-Candor Funeral Home.

Born in Vance County on December 9, 1942, Mrs. Wilder was the daughter of Henry and Pearl Woodlief Stewart. She was co-owner/operator of Larry’s Service Company in Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Karen Abernathy. 

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, “Meme” was a lifelong resident of Henderson. She enjoyed traveling and fellowship with her large extended family, never knowing where a short weekend trip may have them ending up. Her family and heart was completed with the addition of her three very-loved grandchildren.

Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry D. Wilder of the home; daughter, Laurie Wilder McIntyre (Bobby) of Mt. Gilead NC; son, Larry “Bud” Wilder, Jr. (Leslie) of Henderson; sister, Wanda Ellis (Dr. Jon) of Johnson City, TN; grandchildren, Sarahann McIntyre, Larry “Buddy” Wilder, III and Bobby Ray McIntyre, III; numerous extended family members.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and caregivers to the staff of the CCU at Duke Regional for their support and care throughout this journey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
