Nancy Brown

Mrs. Nancy Carroll Brown, age 81 of Lansdowne Maryland and formerly of Denton died Saturday, July 13 at her residence in her grandmother Carroll's bed. She was the sister of Joan Carroll Briggs, funeral director and co-owner of Briggs, Davidson, Carter and Piedmont Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday July 19 in the Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. She will be buried next to her parents in the Denton Town Cemetery The family will see friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Friday at Briggs Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born in Davidson County on March 20, 1938 to Robert C. (Bob) Carroll and Mildred Yarborough Carroll. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Denton. She graduated from Denton High School, and received an Associate in Arts degree from Wingate College. She furthered her education in the school of Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She had lived in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC for over 50 years. She had owned and operated a Nursery School and later a Catering Business, "Always A Sensation." She enjoyed compiling her family history which pre-dates the establishment of Davidson County. She enjoyed traveling and reading and watching old movies. She is survived by sons, R Chris Brown and Charles Mark Carroll and fiancee Leslie Johnston; daughter Sherry B Bell and husband Anthony (Tony) all of Maryland, grandchildren, Jordan Bell, and wife Katie, Jayme Bell, Roberta (Roby) Bell, Ian Bell, Hitoshi Carroll and Michiko Carroll; brother R James (Jimmy) Carroll and wife Carolyn, sister, Joan Carroll Briggs and husband Jack all of Denton. 4 nieces and 1 nephew. Flowers may be sent, but the family also encourages Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Foundation (httsps://www.parkinson.org)
