Richard Kent Huff

East Bend- Mr. Richard Kent Huff, Jr., 70, of Ridgeway Drive passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at his home.  Richard was born November 2, 1952 in Forsyth County to the late Richard Kent Huff, Sr. and Jessie Ruth Hobson Huff.  He was a graduate of Wingate College as a Music Major and Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science.  He lived a life of service to others in his long career of funeral service.  He was the 4th generation descendant from Huff Funeral Home in East Bend, NC which began in 1873.  He worked first with his father at the funeral home and with Huff Ambulance Service, which provided Ambulance Service to all of Yadkin County.  With the death of his father, he became owner and operator of Huff Funeral Home in East Bend until his retirement in 2005.  After some years of retirement, Richard was led to continue in Funeral Service and was currently working with Gentry Family Funeral Homes of Jonesville, Yadkinville, and especially at his hometown of East Bend.  Richard loved music and was an avid “Beatles” fan.  He was a well talented musician choosing the Electric Bass as his instrument of choice.  Through the years he enjoyed playing with several different bands in the Triad area.  Richard was a faithful, proud University of North Carolina Tarheel Fan.  He enjoyed supporting and watching his Tarheels play any sport.  In giving of his time and service to others, most importantly was the time he spent with his family.  He was a loving husband and father to each of them.  Surviving is his beloved wife, Chris Hamby Huff; his son, Richard Kent Huff III; step-son, Nathan Long; his brother, Frank and wife, Renee, Huff; his niece, Rebecca Huff Sagen; great niece, Bailey Sagen; brother-in-law, Mike (Sue) Hamby; his special canine babies that he loved, several cousins and a host of friends.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM on Saturday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev.
