Robert J. “Jack” Walker, 87, of King, NC, formerly of Athens, TN, stepped into the arms of his savior on Nov 24, 2025, at Lifebrite Hospital in Danbury, NC

Born in Athens, TN, he was the son of the late Carl R. and Mary Etoile Duggan Walker and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Miller Walker.

Jack was a man of faith and integrity who endured many trials and tragedies in his life, yet never complained or spoke ill of others. He was an example of Christ’s love to all. He was the kindest, gentlest, and loving man this side of Heaven. He had a smile that would light up the room. No matter what was happening in his life, if you asked him, “Jack, how are you?” his answer would always be “fine and you?” He loved old westerns and police shows and would watch them every day.

His memories will always be loved and cherished by his family: his son, R. Jeffery Walker, and wife Kimberly of King, NC, brother Carl R. Walker’ Jr. and Ruby Cooke of Athens, TN, granddaughter Kristina Michelle Patterson and husband Waylon of King, NC, and great-granddaughters, Emma Grace Cox and Josephine “Josie” Patterson of King, NC, his daughter-in-law's mother, Dale Snyder of King, NC, a young man that was like a grandson to him, Nicholas Cox of King, NC, and a host of other close family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff and physicians of Stokes Nursing Home and Lifebrite Community Hospital for their loving care of Jack; they all became like family to him. They provided the best care, compassion, and companionship that anyone could ask for.

A graveside farewell will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the West Stokes Camp of the Gideons International, P.O. Box 1943, King, NC 27021.
