Ronald Lee Earley, 80, of Hickory, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Carolina Caring.

Born November 29, 1943, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Mable Lee Earley and S.J. Earley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ryan Justin Earley.

Ron loved being on the golf course playing around with his friends and family. Another of his favorite hobbies was fishing, especially in the surf at Topsail. If you were lucky, you might catch him and Barbara shagging to some good ole Carolina beach music.

He and Barbara always welcomed friends and neighbors anytime of the day or night for a good meal, drinks, and laughs. Ron was generous to a fault with both people and animals. Neither would go hungry or thirsty, especially the neighborhood dogs, birds, and squirrels.

Ron loved life to the fullest. He was loved by all and loved on others through his many roles as son, husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bolick Earley of the home; son, Jay Earley and wife Wendy of Flower Mound, TX; daughters: Teresa Price and husband Donnie of Claremont, NC, Heather Bryant of Hickory; and grandchildren, J.R. and Michael Earley, both of Flower Mound, TX, and Davis Bryant of Hickory.

The family will have a reception to celebrate Ron’s life on Friday evening, May 31, 2024, from 5 – 7:00 PM in the Jack Bass Memorial Building.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Carolina Caring, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.

Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the Earley family.
