Mr. Roy Lawrence Phillips, age 82 of Cedar Rock, formerly of Wilkes County, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 9, 2025. He was born March 17, 1943, to Andrew Lawrence Phillips and Annie Lois Phillips of Wilkes County who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother Rex Phillips of Millers Creek. He was also preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law Ruby Thompson “Mom-Thom”.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Wilkesboro Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Hefner and Rev. Doug Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 PM prior to the service in the Sanctuary of Wilkesboro Baptist Church.
Roy was married to his sweetheart Irene Thompson for 42 years who survives him. He is also survived by his sister Martha Phillips Philpot and husband Jim of Asheboro.
Mr. Phillips was an active member of Wilkesboro Baptist Church where he served in many positions, including Usher and with the Baptist Men.
He worked for Lowes Home Improvement for 39 years in the Corporate Headquarters in Wilkesboro as a Procurement Specialist. At one time he served as the “Face of Lowe’s” being a “Male Model” for uniforms and advertising.
He was a 50-year Master Mason, Lodge #0573 in Mt Pleasant. He was also an accomplished woodworker, a Trained Volunteer Firefighter, and part owner of a Racing Team.
He loved racing and NASCAR, was a Tarheel fan and an Atlanta Braves baseball fan. He was a Charter Member and 4-time President of the Foothills Corvette Club. He worked with Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home as a Receiving Director for several years.
