   *   Macon Funeral Home is seeking a full-time funeral director manager to manage the daily operations of the funeral home. The funeral director manager will foster a sense of ownership in the location and pride in the staff, manage costs in a disciplined manner, and encourage profitable case volume growth. Responsible for short-term planning as well as achieving annual sales revenue and production targets, Profit & Loss (P&L) goals, developing a professional and effective staff, and exceeding client family expectations.

This position will -

  • be in charge of financial management, working with the regional manager on budgets, market strategies, approving expenditures and invoices, and managing overtime to an acceptable expense.
  • manage the day-to-day operations communicating expectations, delegating workload, and setting priorities ensuring annual goal achievement. Review and revise schedules ensuring on-time services that exceed customer expectations. Resolve escalated customer issues. Assure operations comply with regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • participate in community, civic, or other organizations as a part of the local promotional efforts of the location and the Company
  • will also serve as a funeral director, embalmer, and crematory operator as needed
  • develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team. Provide oversight, guidance, and coaching including regular informal and formal feedback, identifying developmental needs, and tracking progress. Understand team members’ career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and/or close gaps. Apply a proactive and collaborative management style to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover.

Minimum Requirements -

  • Technical diploma or degree in Funeral Services or Mortuary Science
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science or other degree as required by state/province law and as prescribed by each state board
  • Funeral director and embalmer license in North Carolina
  • Certified crematory operator (or be able to become one)
  • Must be able to traverse a variety of locations and terrains in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift up to 75-100 pounds at times

Experience -

  • At least five (5) years’ industry experience with increasing responsibilities
  • At least three (3) years’ experience guiding staff and communicating expectations
  • Prior experience managing people
  • Budgeting and expense control experience preferred
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Driver's license and clean driving record
  • Conversant in industry and financial acumen
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in using computers and standard software including Microsoft Office Suite
